In a contraflow situation, cultural elements brought into a society by immigrants become accepted and popular among the society at large. Any intersecting alleys, major driveways and streets must have signs indicating to motorists that they should expect two-way bicycle traffic. Existing traffic signals should be modified for bicyclists, with loop detectors or push-buttons.
